     Vertisol is a collection of 12 wall hung sculptures made with hybrid adobe using the black clay soil that is native to the North Texas area where Northrock Studios is located.  In addition to the native soil, the pieces incorporate salvaged honeysuckle vines, pine needles, horsetail reeds and leaves from the area as well.  

     Adobe or mud bricks and walls is a very common construction stratergy through out the world that uses locally available materials to build structures. The choice of these materials for these pieces is an attempt at the same philosophy.
